Insiders will be pleased to know that Microsoft is giving out some treats this week in the Dev Channel via new preview build 25262, In addition to a handful of improvements, there are some nice key improvements to Windows 11 in this release, such as the removal of the unnecessary Widget Board sign-in requirement.
Prior to the arrival of Build 25262, the widget board will require Insiders to sign in to their account so that it can sync with their other devices. This would allow distribution of related interests to users’ machines, but of course the idea sounds absurd and distasteful. With this, the account sign-in requirement will be removed in this release, although it’s hard to say whether Microsoft will keep it that way permanently as this is just a test. Microsoft says that in Build 25262, all users can now access personalized dynamic feeds, widgets, and weather updates, even without an account.
Another change made is the new link to Quick Assist at the bottom of the Troubleshooters page under System in Settings, making it easier to access PC troubleshooting resources.
In addition to those two improvements, Microsoft also announced that it rolled out a Media Player update (version 11.2211.34.0) to Windows Insiders in the Dev channel, allowing them to browse through video libraries by folder.
In the meantime, here’s a full list of the fixes and known issues included in Build 25262.
