Saturating a space with glamorous decor doesn’t show personality.

Glam interior-design styles create a sense of a high standard through luxurious fabrics and dazzling sparkly accessories. But Charles said an overuse of glitz and glitter is impractical and can quickly saturate a space.

“Everything glam is the trend of accessorizing a space with decorative items that are all ornate, glittery, sparkling, reflective and full of sparkle,” she said. “These decorative items were displayed in countless commercially videoed locations, from art to vases. All of these items appear to be large-scale productions without character or story.”

According to the designer, saturating a space in glitter, glitz, silver and gold, or, as if “a fairy dust storm were occurring,” imparts no individual character or quality to the curation.
