The original Beverly Hills Cop saw Murphy play Axel Foley, a Detroit cop who finds himself out of his element while traveling to Beverly Hills, California to solve a friend’s murder. In the two sequels, Axl Foley is brought back to Beverly Hills repeatedly to solve more crimes. The plot of this fourth film is currently under wraps, but one can only imagine what the Detroit cop will bring to the West Coast this time around. Additionally, the nature of Gordon-Levitt and Page’s roles has been kept secret.

The original Beverly Hills Cop film is often credited with skyrocketing Murphy’s career. The film was released only a few months after leaving Saturday Night Live, which made him a household name, but the film made him an international star.

In later years Murphy would do hilarious comedies like Coming to America and his iconic stand-up special Eddie Murphy: Raw. It’s been a long time since this fourth installment fans have been eagerly waiting since it was first in development in the 1990s, but now they’re closer than ever.

Gordon-Levitt is best known for films such as Inception, (500) Days of Summer and The Dark Knight Rises. Most recently, he starred in films such as The Trial of Chicago 7, and he will voice Jimmy Cricket in Disney’s live-action Pinocchio remake. Meanwhile, Paige recently made her breakout in A24’s Zola and will be seen in the upcoming reboot of The Toxic Avenger.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley is written by Will Beale. Biel has previously written hits such as Aquaman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The film will be directed by commercial director Mark Molloy, and Murphy will serve as a producer on the film with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Executive producers will include Charis Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelique. Melissa Reid will serve as co-producer.

Stay tuned to Collider for any future updates as this project becomes available. Beverly Hills Cop: Axl Foley will stream exclusively on Netflix upon release.
